Children today are growing up in a digital world, where their exposure to technology is progressively happening at a younger age. iPads are seen as fantastic tools for keeping kids quiet on long car rides or while dining out and a parent’s smartphone is sometimes used more often by the offspring of the house than by the parents themselves. This is simply the world that we live in now, but it can create many negative issues.
Facebook is a hotspot for teenagers and in the US today, over twenty million preteens and teens have their own account on the site. Unfortunately, cyberbullying is a common occurrence on Facebook and most other social media sites. And sadly enough, 90% of children will not tell their parents or an adult when cyberbullying occurs. This is a serious issue that many parents aren’t aware of – and if they are not aware of it, how can they deal with it?
