A huge thank you to the amazingly lovely people at Elderflower Fields Festival who have given me a family ticket to their festival to give away. That’s passes for two adults and two children (under 5s are free) and is worth over £300! This is the third year for Elderflower Fields, and it’s set to take place in the beautiful Sussex countryside on the weekend of 23-26 May (Bank Holiday!). Family Gammon & Chips have been to the last two years in a row and we had an absolutely brilliant time, but unfortunately we can’t make it this year because we have a wedding to attend (yeah for Zoe & Rick!) In my mind this is THE family festival. I’ve been to a lot of festivals in my time, and every single aspect of this one has been organised with families in mind. It’s small, very walkable, amazingly easy and fun fun fun for both adults and kids. It’s very rare in that you can give your children a huge dose of independence, while you’re still keeping an eye on them from afar. Last year, even nearly 4 year old Gammon could make his own way from the main stage to the tent, as it was within spitting distance – he loved the newfound ‘freedom’ we gave him (all while watching his every move from a distance of course!) The festival is always jam-packed full of live music, fun activities, and general good times for young and old. This year there are over 40 bands across two stages, a silent disco, a sports camp, a cinema, dance classes, storytelling, a half-pipe for skaters at the Urban Woods, wellbeing classes, an arts camp, woodland discovery workshops, an Environment Zone, creative arts workshops, the Drunken Botanist cocktail bar, and a gorgeous woodland spa area for the grownups, complete for the first time with the amazing Hot Tub bus!
Music this year will include a day of music curated by Michele Stodart from The Magic Numbers and Kellie Hutchens (aka Cinnamon Girl Presents) on the Woodland Stage, plus Will and the People, Duke Special, Black River Wild, Aztecs, The Fontanas and many more. My favourite part of the weekend is always the So Sussex Sunday picnic where you receive a free feast of local Sussex produce to enjoy with your friends and family whilst listening to chilled summer music in the sunshine (well, it has been blazing hot both of the past two years!) Here is a review of last year’s festival by my lovely blogging (and real life) friend Sarah from A Field Somewhere and one from 2012 too. To win, enter via the Rafflecopter widget below. Or if you don’t want to chance it, tickets are available to purchase from the Elderflower Fields website. Adult weekend tickets are £105 and child weekend tickets are £50. Under 5s go free.
