Matalan Movie Club – Finding Nemo

With our anti-bullying campaign in memory of Izzy Dix in full flow, my blog has had to take a bit of a back seat of late.

But I did get to go on a Mummy/son trip to London with Gammon in tow one weekend back in October.

We caught the train up from Brighton to attend the Matalan Movie Club blogging event at the Bvlgari Hotel in Knightsbridge.

The hotel was tres impressive – all shiny shiny and posh like. We had some cool drinks on arrival and got to meet the other bloggers and their children, while Gammon rolled his bouncy ball around the room as if it was a pinball machine made of soft furnishings.

But, oh… what was most impressive about this hotel was that behind a wall somewhere in the depths of the basement is a private 47-seat cinema, which we were lead into past an array of plates of lipsmacking cookies and bags of sweet and salty popcorn.

We took our seats in the cinema and Ruth from Matalan introduced the screening, explaining a few tidbits about the store chain, such as the fact that they are really conscious about making things easier for families by offering a helpful Click and Collect service, which would be great if your kids, like mine, find any type of shopping tantrum-inducing, but you can just about get away with a speedy browse online while you stick The Gruffalo DVD on, and a quick run in the car to the Brighton Matalan store.

Then we settled in for the screening of Finding Nemo – a film both Gammon and I love, especially as a lot of it is set in Sydney Harbour!

After the film we were served some scrummy canapés in another room and got a chance to look at Matalan’s new Autumn/Winter collection for kids. By this stage, Gammon wasn’t that keen to suddenly become a 4 year old catwalk model, so all my efforts to get him to try on some of the garb were to no avail! But they did look dapper and, more importantly, warm.

Both Gammon and I would like to thank Matalan for our lovely day out. We had a great time and it was nice to meet the other bloggers and their children, and the fab folk from Matalan too.

*Disclosure: We were invited to the Matalan Movie Club event and provided with a Matalan goody bag. All opinions are my own and 100% honest.
